Career Management Interactive Online Workshop

IEEE-USA provides members with complimentary access to an online interactive workshop, Making a Difference, developed by Targeted Learning. The workshop will help you learn how to increase your job satisfaction, become and remain a top performer, maximize your employability, and get the support needed to achieve your career goals. IEEE-USA partnered with Targeted Learning, a research-grounded training and professional development firm, to provide this workshop that will help IEEE members make a greater difference at work, and achieve more of their personal goals through their work.  Just visit www.ieeeusa.org/careers and select Career Management Workshop.  Register using the special code listed on the website.  We want your feedback, so let us know what you think about this new, interactive workshop.

Salary Service

Since 1973, IEEE-USA has been conducting an extensive Salary and Benefits Survey to assist our members in understanding their market value, and to help them negotiate their current and future salaries.  IEEE-USA now provides a very powerful, online salary calculator--based on 14 different variables, including: area of technical specialization; primary job function; years of education and employment; line of business; and much more. Members who have responded to the survey receive five complimentary uses of the online salary calculator; and can purchase additional use.  IEEE-USA also provides a 75-page report for purchase, with a greatly discounted member rate. Consulting and Entrepreneurship

If you are a consultant, or are thinking about becoming one, IEEE-USA has excellent services for you.  You can become part of IEEE-USA’s Consultants Directory, searched by thousands of potential employers and clients. By joining the consultants network for $99, you will receive a one-year subscription to the online directory, special live consulting webinars, the Annual IEEE-USA Fee Survey, and quarterly newsletters. http://www.ieeeusa.org/business/consultants/

If, however, you are not a sole practitioner--but have started a technology business--you may be interested in our Entrepreneurial Services, including TechMatch--that matches early stage technology entrepreneurs with potential investors. The Entrepreneurial Activities website provides access to resources, webinars, e-books, and the ability to ask questions of experienced entrepreneurs, as well as access to the U.S. Small Business Administration and SCORE.  Come visit us at: http://www.ieeeusa.org/careers/entrepreneurs/

Webinars

IEEE-USA's webinar series will assist you in finding your next job, maintaining your career, negotiating an appropriate salary, and understanding ethical considerations in the workplace, among other career-building strategies. Participate in live webinars, or view more than 60 archived webinars. You will also be eligible to Earn PDHs or CEUs. http://www.ieeeusa.org/careers/webinars/

Employment Assistance and Job Search

Both the IEEE-USA Employment Navigator, which uses spidering technology to capture tens of thousands of hard-to-find job postings, and the IEEE Job Site, are geared toward assisting you in finding your next job. While we know that networking is the number one way to find a new job, these sites have proven to be good complements to members’ networking efforts. http://www.ieeeusa.org/careers/employmentnavigator/employmentnavigator.asp  and http://careers.ieee.org/

Unemployed or at risk IEEE members can also access the link to IEEE-USA’s Employment Network page. Employment networks (also known as job clubs, or job networks) are small groups of individuals who come together in face-to-face or electronic meetings to help one another in their employment search. The Employment Network website provides instructions to any interested IEEE member who wants to start an IEEE-USA based Employment Network in their Section.

IEEE-USA E-Book Library

Choose from more than 100 IEEE-USA E-Books in a number of categories, including: careers, public policy, financial planning, innovation, and more. Some titles are available as free member downloads, and most are available at greatly discounted member rates. http://www.ieeeusa.org/communications/ebooks/

IEEE Online Distance Learning

For continuing online technical education you can access numerous courses in a variety of technical fields. http://ieee-elearning.org/
