IEEE Green Technologies Conference Coming to Oklahoma in April
The fourth IEEE Green Technologies Conference will bring together engineers, scientists and entrepreneurs to discuss emerging technologies in alternative fuel, renewable energy, alternative vehicle power sources and energy conservation. The event is slated for 19-20 April in Tulsa, Okla., and there’s still time to register. “The most successful green technologies will enable us to consume more, not less, and optimize energy inputs at a lower cost,” General Chair Sophie Liu said.
IEEE-USA Annual Meeting About to Take Flight
The 2012 IEEE-USA Annual Meeting is coming to Cincinnati, 3-6 May. The theme for this year’s event is “Innovation Taking Flight.” Attendees will hear from leading experts on pressing social, economic and political issues surrounding aerospace technologies. Sessions will also be provided on basic volunteer training, interactive workshops honing leadership skills, exhibits on the latest IEEE products and services, opportunities for networking and exchange of best practices. Leading Labor Economist to Deliver Keynote at STEM Enterprise Measures Event
Labor Economist and Harvard Professor Richard Freeman will deliver the keynote address during the STEM Enterprise: Measures of Innovation and Competitiveness workshop on 6 June. The event is designed to measure the impact and effectiveness of all federal, state, private and academic money spent on research and development in the STEM enterprise. This information can help public and private leaders formulate STEM policy based on concrete data and proven algorithms. Work in this area serves as the driving force for economic and social advancement in the United States and worldwide.

IEEE-USA Seeks to Honor U.S. IEEE Members
IEEE-USA is seeking award nominations to recognize members for their professionalism, technical achievement, and literary contributions to public awareness and understanding of the engineering profession in the United States. Literary awards are open to nonmembers. 2012 award recipients will be honored during the 2013 IEEE-USA Annual Meeting.
