IEEE-USA’s Free eBook to Members Guides Entrepreneurs in Competitive Analysis

In April, IEEE-USA eBooks will offer Starting Your Start-Up ” Book 3: Competitive Analysis, by Tanya Candia, free to IEEE members as a member benefit.

IEEE-USA’s Starting Your Start-Up eBook series is designed for the engineer or entrepreneur who has a great product or service idea, but no real marketing expertise. Book 3: Competitive Analysis guides readers through the competitive landscape, for a better understanding of who the competition is, and why it’s important to see the landscape the way customers see it.

Competitive Analysis helps readers develop an effective positioning strategy, determine the true value of their products or services to their target customers, and find ways to ensure that solutions are ideal.

Candia emphasizes that readers must have a clear understanding of their competition to close the deals, to make real revenue, to get the attention of the prospective customer, and to get funding.

Some entrepreneurs think that they have no competition — others feel that competition has no end; either way, Candia urges the entrepreneur to conduct this analysis before going into business. To start this analysis, she guides the reader through a brainstorming session to find out who the competition is.
