Licensure & Registration

Recap of the October 2014 Electrical & Computer PE Exam Results

By Michael Behnke

The National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) has released results from the October 2014 administration of the three Electrical & Computer PE examinations (power, computer and electrical and electronics) to its member boards.  More than 1,400 candidates took these exams, with overall pass rates for the three examinations of:

  • 65 percent for first-time exam takers
  • 31 percent for repeat takers

The timing and means of notification of exam results to individual candidates varies depending on the jurisdiction in which the candidate applied for registration.  Some state boards notify candidates directly, while others use NCEES or third-party exam administrators to deliver results.  In addition, some states require review of the results through a board meeting prior to their release, which can impact timing.

NCEES has produced a short video that explains the PE examination scoring process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwFvfJBTBGU.
